CHUI WAN (Peking)
Yippie!!! Chui Wan är tillbaka på Koloni, senast var på Skjulet i mars där de gjorde en makalöst bra spelning!

Chui Wan is a four-piece experimental psychedelic rock band from Beijing, China. They get their name from Daoist philosopher Zhuangzi’s “Qi Wu Lun” (齐物论), a mystical work on the relationship between nature and human life. The spirit of Zhuangzi’s thought is reflected in the modern Chinese idiom: “谓风吹万窍,发出各种音响。” – “When the wind blows, every sound may be heard therein.” ”Their debut album White Night is a psychedelic masterpiece that embraces every mind manifesting element of popular music from Captain-Beefheart flavored saxophone skronk to jerky post-punk rhythms along the lines of The Fall. These elements float in a warm solution of liquid jangle, reverberating shoegaze, and psyched-out space rock with a hint of East Asian melody. But it’s the prominent surf guitar leads that makes their sound truly psychoactive. Where most surf-inspired music is is raw and blown out, Chui Wan goes in for crystalline guitar tone as hard bright and sweet as that multicolored rock candy that comes on wooden sticks. If you are at all suggestible it might lead you to a deep sense of oneness with the universe, or maybe just with several obscure musical subgenres. The bands intellectual underpinnings are as deep as their sound. They take their name from a Daoist text on the relationship between human beings and nature and draw inspiration from the radical Japanese experimental rockers Les Rallizes Dénudés. The are currently melting lucky minds in China’s underground rock clubs, but the world needs to hear this noise now. The album is out on the great Chinese indie label Maybe Mars”

RYLEY WALKER (Chicago, US, Tompkins Square)
With a powerful voice that spans ranges and eras, and an effortless approach to a fine melody on the guitar, Ryley Walker sets the bar higher for the modern folk artist.
The 24 year-old recently turned to his folk-rock sound, inspired by some of his heroes Bert Jansch, Tim Buckley, and Tim Hardin. After kicking around Chicago’s experimental free/noise music scene and touring extensively with an array of artists, he grew into his current laid-back and folk-driven approach to tunes, resulting in several cassettes, singles, and a highly acclaimed EP The West Wind. His poised and accomplished debut LP All Kinds Of You, is due out April 2014 on the seminal Tompkins Square label. With a stellar backing band, Walker brings a swift sound that recalls the golden eras of folk, lush with soul.
